If you are a fan of cooking, the Torta di Ceci Experience is a cooking class that will capture your heart and palate. The ingredients for this pie are incredibly simple and easy to find, but to make it just right – soft and fragrant, perfectly golden and delightfully crispy – you need to grasp some secret techniques, which you’ll learn from the advice and demonstrations of authentic Livornese “Tortai,” a select group of professionals who have passed down generations of knowledge about this genuine and exquisite recipe from the Labronian culinary tradition.
Your guides will always be chosen among the representatives of the Livornese Tortai Association, an organization founded in 2019 with the support of CNA, dedicated to safeguarding and promoting Torta worldwide, with a special focus on the “5e5.” They are the ones who, on the 5th of May each year (the fifth day of the fifth month), organize the 5e5 Day, a citywide event that celebrates the brightest expression of its street food.
Through stories, anecdotes, practical trials, and tasty samples, you will be welcomed into one of their workshops each time, where you will learn to properly measure and blend the ingredients and master the correct cooking methods to prepare your own perfect homemade Torta. You’ll be able to amaze your guests during dinner or a delicious snack.
