Back in Time is much more than a guided tour; it’s a dive into the past that will immerse you in the history of Fortezza Nuova and Livorno. This comprehensive experience will take you on a journey through past, present and future with an immersive outdoor experience. Upon arrival in Sala degli Archi, you’ll be greeted by a reenactor in historical attire. Through a series of digital wall projections, you’ll be introduced to the history and brilliance of the great Master Bernardo Buontalenti, the enlightened designer of the Pentagon upon which the city of Livorno was built.
After the projections, you’ll have the option to wear period costumes to enhance your connection with the past as you uncover the secrets of the Fortress commissioned by Ferdinando de’ Medici. Discover its history through anecdotes and curiosities, narrated by characters who lived it. But that’s not all. In the Sala degli Archi, thanks to a mixed reality experience with Meta Quest headsets (available in both italian and english), you’ll be able to travel through time, exploring history in a suggestive and immersive experience.
At the end of your multimedia adventure, you’ll be escorted to the refreshment area, where you can enjoy a welcome drink paired with a tasting of local products, non-alcoholic beverages, wine, Livorno’s traditional ponce, or pick up a picnic basket for an outdoor gourmet break.
